LZ7 Update | New Music | New Band Members | New Decisions For Jesus

Over the last few months LZ7 have literally been
touring the world (Netherlands, Switzerland, Venice,
Australia, USA, Iverness) and have taken their
message of hope, faith and the love of Jesus to people
of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs.
“Its’ been incredible watching our vision
move into arenas we never thought possible,”
shares the band’s front man Lindz West.
“We have been in 65 schools so far this year
and 25 of them came from the 3 week trip to
New Zealand. We had thousands turning up
to evening events following the days in school
and in total saw 5500 new commitments to
Jesus over that time.”
“A girl turned up to a show with 180 pills in
her pocket, 6 razor blades, and a suicide
note,” West explains. “She told us, ‘You ruined
my Friday night plans as i was gonna end it
tonight , i didn’t coz when you played that
“Aftershow” track something hit me like a
train’… That girl gave her life to Jesus that
night!”
The ‘Aftershow’ single is available on iTunes now
and upon its release climbed to No. 5 on the UK
Dance Chart and hit the top 10 in numerous
European countries including Holland and
Switzerland where the band have put in a lot of work
ministering in schools and at festivals.
LZ7 have established Light Music, their own record
label and are working on strategies to further impact
the mainstream music scene and will see the band
release their next single ‘Give Out The Love’ on
2nd September 2013.
“It’s called ‘Give Out The Love’ and is in
partnership with Compassion raising
awareness and support for the worlds poorest
children.”
May saw the arrival of LZ7′s newest recruit,
Remidee (Toronto, Canada) who with his wife Tori
have relocated to the UK to be a part of the LZ7
team. Remidee is an artist with a mission to spread
hope, love, and positivity through music and will

program titled Living4God which aims to aid young
people who are interested in developing a
relationship with God.
“We have developed an online resource for
young people who want to know more about
being a Christian in a format that can be
accessed on your device from phone to
laptop.”

Tony Tillman ‘The Tillman EP’ Review

Tony Tillman found God in the back of a Police car.
However this is true for may other of Christian
rapper’s; lives of drugs, crime and immoral behavior
are often what they have been saved from.
‘The Tillman EP’ is the warm up to Tillman’s
forthcoming album and having never heard his
material before I was interested to know is his music
would stand out from the crowd of similar sounding,
mediocre Christian Rap be “just another Rap album.”
The EP starts with the melodic synth driven song
‘Tailored’ featuring Beckah Shae. It’s an
immediate attention grabber and the dynamics work
so well in drawing you into the song to hear it’s
powerful message, that we are “formed by the
same hands who made the stars. Fashioned by
the Creator, perfectly designed and tailored.
You are tailor made.” One line that really stood
out was “so thirsty for validation you don’t
even know you’re special,” which will relate to
the people the song is targeted at.
‘Hourglass’ took me back 15 years to a time when
Hip Hop was mellow, melodic and poetic. Featuring
Tedashii, Chad Jones & Rio, each artist adds a
different feel and texture to the song while reminding
us that time is not promised to us and that “this life
won’t last forever, and time will slip away.”
Tillman totally surprised me on ‘Psycho’ entering
the track with a double time flow bringing and
assertiveness, raw feeling to the track. Both Tillman
and Canon use this Trap styled beat to catch the
attention of the listener and bring the truth of the
Gospel to encourage salvation in the unsaved and to
enthuse the believer.
‘Heaven’ comes in 2 installments. A simplistic,
shimmering acoustic version, which will have you
swaying from side to side featuring Out Of The
Dust and a Traditional Gospel inspired piano led
version fused with classic Hip Hop MPC beat
production featuring brass and string arrangements
featuring Sho Baraka and Jordan Love. This song
looks forward to ‘Heaven’ and leaving this world
behind, “Cause waiting on my Saviour got all
my emotions mixed up. Anxious everyday
feels like I’m waiting on Christmas. They ask
why I’m in such a hurry to see the sun drop.
Y’all don’t hear that ambulance? Y’all don’t
hear that gun pop?”
The EP features a bonus track titled ‘Tillman’ which
seems to be a track, which introduces you to the
artist, which is great if you’re new to him like I am.
“And when the ask me to define Tillman, I
just tell ‘em, we’re just servants of the most
high God bro… We till the fallow grounds of a
man’s heart…”
‘The Tillman EP’ has done exactly what it was set
out to. When artist is gearing up to release an album
an EP normally serves as a way to wet the appetites of
listeners and create excitement leading up to the full
album and ‘The Tillman EP’ has done exactly that for
me. After hearing this EP I would go out and buy it.
There’s a wide variety of styles but the EP (for the
most part) is very melodic which makes it easy to
enjoy the songs without having to be a hardcore Hip
Hop/Rap fan whilst also appealing to Acoustic, Pop
and Gospel music lovers.
I did notice that every track other than ‘Tillman’ has
a featured artist. Looking at the track list and
number of featured artists without listening to the EP
would have caused me to wonder if Tillman could
hold his own, was a strong enough writer and a good
enough artist to deliver a solid project without using
other artists as a crutch. After listening I realised
that this isn’t the case and that his writing, the
versatility of his flow and his overall musical diversity
showcase great artistry.
As someone who isn’t hardcore into Hip Hop/Rap
but a lover of it all the same I was genuinely happy to
hear an EP that stands out from the crowd, that flows
organically and genuinely sounds like an expression
of an artist… If ‘The Tillman EP’ is the starter, I
can’t wait to get tucked in to the main course.
Track List:
Tailored (feat. Beckah Shae)
Hourglass (feat. Tedashii, Chad Jones & Rio)
Psycho (feat. Canon)
Heaven – Acoustic Version (feat. Out Of The Dust)
Heaven (feat. Sho Baraka & Jordan Love)
Tillman – Bonus Track

The Almost Release ‘Fear Inside Our Bones

Acclaimed Rock group The Almost (Aaron
Gillespie – lead vocalist/lyrics/guitar, – Jay
Vilardi – guitars, – Dusty Redmon – guitars, –
Jon Thompson – bass – and Joe Musten – drums
– have released their third album ‘Fear Inside Our
Bones’. Tooth & Nail has entered into a new
distribution deal with RED Distribution, Sony
Music Entertainment’s award-winning
independent distribution company. Under the
agreement, RED will now handle distribution for all
future Tooth & Nail and Solid State releases.
It’s all too easy to make an album in this day and age.
You rent out a studio, record one part, and then cut
and paste it across the whole record. That happens
partly because of fear. Putting your soul on tape is a
scary thing. The Almost overcame that fear and did
something completely different for not only
themselves but Modern Rock as a whole. They holed
up in a small room in Nashville’s Omni Studios
with producer Marshall Altman (Tom Morello,
Ingrid Michaelson, William Fitzsimmons) for
only five days and played every note of their third full-
length album, ‘Fear Inside Our Bones’ together in
unison.
“It wasn’t a piecemeal process as the majority
of modern records are,” explains Gillespie.
“The album was born at that moment from
our collective blood, sweat and tears.” In those
five days, the musicians tapped into elegantly visceral
energy built from a Blues-Rock vibe that they
modernized. Other album highlights include the
relentless rocker ‘Fight Song,’ the powerful and
complicated anthem ‘I Won’t Let Go,’ and ‘I’m
Down’ which streams ahead like a Southern freight
train before the singer soulfully proclaims in the
chorus, ‘Don’t Count Me Out’.
Now, there’s an overwhelming thunder on the
horizon. It’s the sound of a band realizing its
potential. It’s the sound of life. It’s the sound of The
Almost.

GRAMMY nominated artist Mandisa is calling
out all ‘Overcomers’ in her latest project, which
drops on 27th August. The long-awaited fourth
studio album, ‘Overcomer,’ comes over two years

selling GRAMMY nominated record, ‘What If
We Were Real,’ which brought on fan favorites and
No. 1 songs such as ‘Stronger’ and ‘Good
Morning’. ‘Overcomer’ is the lead single from the
album and is an extension of the impactful message
once began with her song ‘Stronger,’ an anthem

Produced by Christopher Stevens and David
Garcia, ‘Overcomer’ continues to showcase the
former American Idol finalist’s powerful vocals and
Pop-leaning hooks that blend effortlessly through all
11 tracks. With caution-to-the-wind melodies weaved
throughout the record, anchored by emotional songs
like her open letter to her brother in ‘Dear John,’
‘Overcomer’ is set to be Mandisa’s most impactful
release to date. Many songs were co-written by
critically acclaimed artists and friends including
Chris August (‘Praying For You’), Israel
Houghton (‘At All Times’), Tiffany Lee, aka
Plumb (‘Dear John’), Britt Nicole and Cindy
Morgan (‘Where You Begin’) and Matthew

Lecrae Responds To Rumours About Signing With Jay-Z

When you talk about Christian Hip Hop/Rap it’s hard
not to think about Lecrae… The first rapper to win a
Gospel GRAMMY, which is normally won by
heavyweight “Contemporary Gospel” artist, not a
rapper.
Lecrae has had great success during his career,
however the mainstream music world really started
taking note after he appeared on the 2011 BET
Awards Cypher and also his collaboration with
Statik Selektah for the song ‘Live And Let Live’
taken from the ‘Population Control’ album.
A few weeks ago rumours started surfacing that
Lecrae was to sign with Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter,
which some would claim to be a massive career move
in terms of reaching a wider audience and making a
bigger impact on the mainstream Hip Hop music
world.
Lecrae responded to the rumours and claims in an
Ebony.com interview saying, “[Laughs] At this
point in time, no,” Lecrae told Ebony.
“Essentially, he was looking for some
conscious artists and my name was thrown
into a pool of other artists and that’s as far as
it went.”
With that said, Lecrae did make it clear that signing
with Jay-Z was not something he would consider
despite the obvious advantages of a move like that.
“Nah. For multiple reasons, but one majorly,
I’m an independent artist, I’m a label owner,”
Lecrae explained. “I love my independence. I
love being able to create the story.”
Lecrae continued, “…I want to do in many ways
what Jay-Z is doing for the mainstream. He’s
inspiring a lot of people to think they can do
something on their own. I want to inspire
people that they can do it on their own and
not compromise their faith and beliefs, as
well. So, that’s what I stand for.”
Lecrae’s released ‘Church Clothes’ the Mix-Tape
in 2012 which received in excess of 100,000
downloads on popular Mix-Tape website Datpiff.
Dubbed as one of “the most important albums in
Christian Hip Hop history,” ‘Gravity,’
Lecrae’s l atest album debuted at No. 3 on the
Billboard 200, and No. 1 on the Top Rap,
Christian, Gospel, and Independent Albums
chart, and won the GRAMMY for “Best Gospel
Album” 2013.
